Join us and discover better as you deliver world-class science for the future.Role: Health Safety & Environment ManagerLocation: Hybrid/ BioTech Campus, York, UK (~2 time per week on site)Working pattern: 37.5 Monday – Friday anytime between 7am & 7pm (flexi)Start date: ASAP depending on recruitment and onboarding timelines.What you'll be doing:Leading the development and implementation of HSE compliant strategy spanning the organisationMaintaining the SHE management systems to ensure HSE objectives and KPIs are identified, agreed and met.Manage risks and opportunities associated with the HSE across the business as well as to be responsible for compliance, incident investigation and internal audit schedulesEnsuring adequate policies, procedures, systems and best practices are maintainedReporting data and insights to recommend improvement and influence key business decisionsTo provide healthy challenge to our stakeholders in HSE discussionsThe HSE Manager will and act as a subject matter expert in improvement projects and will work closely with Business Analysts and Change Project Managers to ensure implementation and embedding of improvements.What we're looking for:Previous experience within a HSE role, preferably in a regulated environmentThe ability to influence and take ownership and accountability of HSE initiatives.A clear understanding of HSE legislation and COSHHA strategic thinker and continuous improvement outlookNEBOSH qualifications or willingness to obtain (training provided)An excellent communicator and collaboratorRelationship management skills, at all levelsAuditor qualifications such as ISO14001 would be an advantage.A pragmatic individual who provides healthy challenge, feedback, and recommendationsA subject matter expert on policy development, incident investigations and responses, improvement projects, standardization of processes, problem solving and leading specific initiatives where necessary.Ability to support colleagues in identifying root cause, and planning and running improvement workshops.What’s in it for you?23 days’ holiday (rising to 27) with the opportunity to buy extra leave.Flexible working hours, on-site gym, restaurant, and free parkingThe opportunity to take a paid day out of the office, volunteering for our charity partners or a cause of your choiceCompany matched pension, life assurance, a cycle2work scheme, 15 weeks’ fully paid maternity, adoption and shared parental leave, paternity pay of two weeks…and plenty more.Voluntary benefits designed to suit your lifestyle – from discounts on retail and socialising, to health & wellbeing, travel and technologyAccess to our Employee Network Groups, which represent every strand of diversity and allow colleagues to connect and learn from each other on an open, inclusive platformWhat we hope you’ll do next:Choose ‘Apply now’ to fill out our short application, so that we can find out more about you.
