Acorn by Synergie is recruiting a Engineering Operative who has operated a milling machine (in the food industry). You'll be working with rubber or plastic.

Working hours: Monday to Friday 8am- 16.30pm and Friday finish at 1pm. �25,000 per annum.

  • Responsible for dimensional and visual inspection (as applicable) of own output
  • Multi skilled to cover the following production operations

Must have previous mill experience ideally operating a Bharaj mill.

  • Blank preparation
  • Milling of elastomer
  • Cutting / stamping blanks to size & weight controls
  • Setting & operation of Barwell preform cutter
  • Metal & PTFE preparation
  • Masking & shot blasting of metals
  • Degreasing metals & PTFE's
  • Mixing of bonding agents, handling of solvents
  • Application of bonding agent to metal & PTFE's
  • Metal component reclaim
  • Moulding
  • Set-up of mould & press
  • Operating multiple moulding presses (compression & transfer)
  • Application of mould release
  • Initial trimming of excess flash
  • RTV Silicone casting
  • Mixing of two part silicone, including degassing
  • Cleaning/preparation of moulds
  • Pouring material & degasssing
  • Demoulding
  • Post cure
  • Loading / unloading of oven

  • Trimming
  • Setting and operating kniffing machines, cutting sealing lips and polishing/flash removal
  • Setting and operating on manual lathe for the cutting of large rim seals
  • Setting and operating manual lathe for the trimming of CV boots
  • Finishing
  • Mixing hypalon sealant and spraying seal OD
  • Hand assembly operations i.e. crimping PTFE, multiple seal components
  • Grease application
  • Fitting of garter springs which could involve modification of spring
  • Laser marking

  • Correct manual handling of tools and moulds
  • Carry out all operations as outlined in production paperwork & SOP's
  • Flexible, to be transferred to other areas of production
  • Carry out all work activities in accordance with HSE requirements
  • Keep work area(s) in compliance with company housekeeping standards

Education and Experience:

  • Experience in a Rubber manufacturing environment is desirable


Competences:

  • Good dexterity to handle small components whilst wearing gloves
  • Quality conscious with strong attention to detail
  • Understanding the need for quality and how it impacts on business
  • Good understanding of foreign object defects, cause and rectification
  • Ability to understand and complete paperwork
  • Maintain standards as set by Company


Geography to cover and travel requirements:

  • This position is based at TSS Bridgwater
  • The role may include occasional travel for training or other site visits
  • Must have proof of right to work in the UK
