Engineering Director

We are assisting an exciting electronics and software-focused manufacturing business in their search for an Engineering Director to manage the design and development activity of a large team of design engineers! As Engineering Director it is necessary to have at least 10 years of experience in design engineering coupled with at least 5 years of experience in a senior/principal design engineer role taking the lead on the design of complex designs utilised within the electronics industry. You will need to be a well-educated, highly technical, and an analytical engineer with a design engineering background to assist your team when solving technical problems. With this role you will be given the opportunity to manage a large and diverse multi-disciplined engineering team so good people management skills are needed. You need to have managed a team of at least ten engineers focused on electronics and software development in a recent role.
Engineering Director - Role and Responsibilities – Firmware / Embedded Software / Electronics / Engineering Manager / Head of Engineering
Oversee the design of new products and plan the engineering resource required for new projects as required by the business.
Direct engineering resources to produce new designs for a varied customer base.
Liaise internally with sales/quality/production/operations and externally with key customers as part of the senior leadership team to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of design and development projects
Handle multiple design projects to meet company deadlines - Prioritise engineering resources.
Commercial acumen facilitating involvement in bids and tenders. A key role in setting strategy for the company
Engineering Director - Skills and Abilities - Firmware / Embedded Software / Electronics / Engineering Manager / Head of Engineering
Degree qualified in Electronics/Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 10 years industrial experience as an embedded software or electronics engineer
Highly technical engineer with an innovative approach to design
Good working knowledge of electronics incorporating Embedded Software
Experience in feasibility studies, advising commercial teams and adding technical expertise to the sales function.
