We have provided GB power market modelling for over a decade, supporting the UK government’s market reforms and Net Zero strategy, and providing the security of supply models used by National Grid ESO. Our work with industry is used to support investment decisions spanning a range of technologies and to understand the impact of market and policy changes on their portfolios.Our energy market models are built inhouse, and our modelling team includes developers, modellers and energy market experts. We typically model the development of the power sector through to 2050, simulating the granular half-hourly dispatch decisions as well as the long-term investment decisions, based on capturing the underlying fundamentals of the market.As a Consultant in LCP Delta’s energy modelling team you will be involved in a diverse range of projects, covering both client and non-client work. Areas of work you may be involved in include:Working with major energy industry participants to provide analysis to aid in their commercial and strategic decision makingAssisting government in understanding the effect of their energy policiesBespoke modelling to aid decision making in a wide range of situationsUnderstanding and modelling the opportunities and risks associated with new generation and storage asset investmentWhat will you be doing?Designing solutions to the complex problems our clients in the energy industry face and present these solutions in an accessible mannerPlanning and delivering all aspects of project work, from bid writing through to final deliveryDemonstrating an in-depth understanding of the UK electricity market and the implications of energy market developments for modelling and analysisHelping develop and grow the business in new areasManaging junior members of the teamWhat skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?A strong background and experience in the UK electricity market in an analytical role and possess a 2:1 degree or better in a numerate subject, e.g. mathematics, statistics, computing, engineering, economics or equivalentGood grounding in the methods involved in long term power market forecasting, as well as the ability to sense check model resultsComfortable leading a project team of ranging seniority and line managing junior team members to contribute to their growth and developmentBe able to demonstrate initiative in every aspect of your work and be creative in developing original solutions to problemsStrong communication skills. An essential part of this role is to be able to communicate effectively both orally and in written communicationsBe confident, have good presentation skills and be able to explain complex issues to othersHighly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint and have experience in using electricity market modelling softwareAbility to manage your work effectively, initially with help from other team members, to ensure that you complete the work assigned to you efficiently and on timeWhat’s in it for you?Take a look at our Glassdoor
