SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.For Scotland’s Mental HealthPost: Employability SpecialistRef: REC1463Location: National Employment Team (East Lothian)Hours: 37.5Contract: PermanentAbout the RoleWe deliver a diverse range of employability interventions including:Individual Placement and Support (IPS): Co located and integrated within partner agencies such as Community Mental Health Teams or Drug and Alcohol Partnerships. Predominantly working to the IPS delivery model on a 1:1 basis with clients.Step Up: Delivered in community venues such as community hubs and centres. Predominantly, a flexible delivery model with a mix of group and 1:1 work with clients .Working in new employability services across East Lothian, you will manage a caseload of clients to assist them in securing sustainable paid employment, and/or other outcomes, as detailed within the Service Level Agreement. You will provide person centred advice and guidance to clients, whilst building positive relationships with local employers, referral and partner agencies.You will work as part of and in collaboration with support services, maintaining positive and integrated relationships, fostering a holistic approach to recovery.What we are looking forOutstanding interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with a range of people EssentialAbility to work independently and use initiative to develop and promote a serviceAble to use IT and tools such as MS Word, PowerPoint and ExcelExperience of working with individuals on a one-to-one basis and in groupsExperience working in employment services supporting people to obtain or keep work DesirableExperience/understanding of working with people with mental health problems, or a similar client group within health, social care or the voluntary sector DesirableExperience and understanding of mental health and health inequalities and the impact these have on communities DesirableAn understanding of the employment needs, and challenges faced by people who experience labour market exclusion DesirableKnowledge of the benefits system including disability related benefitsWhat we will provide for youYou will work in a supportive environment and will be provided with a full induction and training opportunities.
