Electrical Engineer



J & B Recycling is the largest independent waste management company in the North East. Handling materials from domestic kerbside collections, commercial collections and waste sites. We have four sites in total, two in Hartlepool, one in Middlesbrough and one in Washington, three of the sites have fixed plant with multiple mechanical systems.



The successful candidate will have had previous experience as an Electrical Engineer with a can do attitude and a proven record of complex problem solving. Previous experience of the waste industry and high voltage training would be desirable but not essential.



Purpose



The role of the electrical engineer is quite varied, with a focus on, preventative maintenance, installation, and safety checking of electrical control systems and related components across all sites.



Roles and Responsibilities (include but not limited to):



Reporting to the Senior Electrical Engineer and Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the plants are maintained in order to achieve the required plant runtime.



Ensuring that the planned weekly preventative maintenance shift for each site and plant is carried out to specification.



The work varies on a day to day basis but includes:



Fault finding, fault diagnosing, testing and repair of electrical equipment, static and mobile plant.



 Plan and complete preventative maintenance for each site within agreed timeframes.



 Agree and maintain par stock of essential parts as well as adhering to the department budget with the aid of order numbers and spend controls.



 Project and Installation work to improve efficiency and safety of all sites.



 Keep up to date and develop technical knowledge.



 Read and understand schematic and wiring diagrams.



Comply with H&S procedures by working in a safe and responsible manner at all times, ensuring that the company’s policies and procedures are adhered to and the permitting system is consistently implemented.



Essential Educational/Professional Qualifications



The successful candidate must be apprentice trained or equivalent - City and Guilds NVQ L3, ONC, or above, as well as be 18thEdition BS7671 qualified.



Additional Information



Salary: £41,500 per annum depending on experience



Call outs will be paid a minimum of 4 hours

Hours: 45 per week



Shifts: Will initially be 07:00 -16:30 until trained



Shift Pattern - one week of each shift 06:00 – 15:30, 07:00 – 16:30 and 13:30 – 23: 00



On Call: When on 13:30 – 23:00 will be on call for breakdowns from 23:00 – 6:00 through the week and weekend until 06:00 Monday



On call 1 week in 4



Holidays 28 days including bank holidays
