About you
Intertek Electrical are currently looking for a Test Engineer to be based in Milton Keynes. This is an important and exciting opportunity as Intertek looks to grow its engineering team to meet market requirements.
The roles key purpose is to complete electrical safety evaluations for Interteks global client base. Working within the Intertek Electrical UK team, the Test Engineer would work closely with clients to evaluate their products and documentation to ensure they meet specific requirements of the applicable test standards. The role will also involve working across all departments within UK Electrical, providing technical support to operations, sales, and marketing.
Required skills and experience:
Essential:
Relevant Electrical/Electronic formal qualifications or degree
Good IT Skills, experience with excel, word and data retention systems
Experience of working in accordance with a Quality Management System
Attention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of standards
Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other members of the team
Desirable:
Background in one of the following; product safety testing, grid code, inverters, EV charging, BESS, energy
Experience and knowledge in one or more electrical safety standards e.g. IEC/EN 50549//UL 1741 SA/IEEE 1547/60335/62368/60730
Knowledge and experience of certification schemes
Experience of generating test reports for customers and certification purposes.
Experience with data acquisition and analyzer tools, AC/DC simulators, RLC load bank and communication interfaces
About the opportunity
Key activities:
Provide on-going support and guidance on technical issues, test procedures, and standards interpretations
Provide quotes for projects and products
Research new standards, technologies, and trends in standards
Support accreditations activities such as audit follow-up and corrective actions
Manage assigned tasks within Intertek guidelines
Assess technical documentation and processes against standard requirements
Set up and operate EUT; perform and document simple repairs on EUT as needed
Perform testing of products in accordance with standards
Complete preliminary design reviews (PDR) both on and off site
Develop, set up, and follow established test plans
Provide project updates to customers, as well as management
Provide technical support for internal and external audits
Ensure evaluations are completed to standard and within set timescales
Attend customer calls and meetings
