Organisation position and purpose
Based on the Pirbright site carrying out planned preventative and reactive maintenance activities, including operation and maintenance (to competency level) we are looking for an Electrical Engineer of mechanical building services and process plant, including high containment HEPA filtered HVAC systems, high containment drainage and effluent treatment plants/equipment, standard building services including BMS, VSD,UPS’s lighting and small power, HV/LV distribution PAT’s testing and fixed and installation certification.
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor within a multidisciplinary engineering team of 18 engineers and supported by a dedicated management team and technical specialists.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Participation in the development and implementation of the TPI Asset Care program (PPM) including Condition Based Monitoring and testing duties in accordance with regulatory compliance requirements.
Providing technical support from small to large size M&E Projects including supporting the design, installation, commissioning and validation of new assets.
Condition Based Monitoring and control of plant and equipment via Building Management Systems Team
(TREND/Schneider/Johnson
Controls) including responding to critical and secondary monitoring system alarms for high containment HVAC and effluent systems.
Liaison with technical and scientific staff throughout the Institute at the situational level including external contractors to ensure work programs are delivered on time right first time.
Participation in the TPI Third Party Contractor Management process including review of risk assessments/method statements and supervision of external contractors, service engineers and suppliers.
Operation and maintenance of semi-automated processes including animal effluent treatment plant, waste incineration plant, AHU’s VSD’s UPS’s electrical distribution in HV and LV, Life Safety Systems, LOTO and permitting process.
Participation in TPI Health, Safety & Risk programs including risk assessment of planned maintenance activities and ‘on the spot’ risk assessment of reactive works.
Participation in the TPI Quality Management System supporting the development of Standard Operating Procedures and ensuring QMS training compliance as appropriate to the post.
Participation in ‘duty on call rota’ to provide out of hours reactive maintenance response following adequate training and familiarisation of site.

Minimum City & Guilds/NVQ-2 Electrical Engineering
Minimum 18th Edition (17th Edition with a view to upgrading)
Experience in
maintaining/repairing
commercial electrical supplies (3 phase)
Experience of Process Engineering within a regulated environment such as in Food and/or Pharmaceutical and/or nuclear and/or petro-chemical environment
Experience in maintenance problem solving tools and techniques
Able to communicate technical subjects to staff at all levels and all areas of the organisation
groups at the situational level in the organisation
Able to risk assess and define safe working practices when faced with unplanned events
Able to work outside office hours if required
