James Lewis are currently assisting a key client in their search for a Electrical Project Manager to join an M&E Contractor who have been well established for over 23 years.

As a privately owned Mechanical & Electrical Building Services contractor they provide services across Design & Build, full M&E services, HVAC, IT infrastructures, CCTV, security, access control and fire alarms. The company has been founded upon sound practises, quality installations and working closely with their clients on a range of projects which include, commercial, education, residential, healthcare, data centres and healthcare ranging in value up to 20m.

The project involves the refurbishment of an existing custodial centre near Oxford which was last used in 2018. The redevelopment forms part of the government plans to provide safe, secure and fit for purpose detained accommodation for those awaiting removal from the UK. Due to nature of the building, there are various elements to it which include accommodation, a medical centre, sports facilities/gymnasium, educational facilities, catering areas and a library with a total M&E value in the region of 20m. Due to the bulk of their current workforce being based either Essex or Kent based they are looking to build a new team within a commutable distance to the Oxford area. The scheme is due to go to site in April with a build program running through till the end of December, securing your employment for 2024. Due to the unusual nature of this project our client is relatively open to previous experience, although any experience on custodial projects would be deemed an advantage.

The Electrical Project Manager duties include:

  • Demonstrate successful delivery of electrical projects ideally up to 6m

  • Be responsible for designing the programme and delivering it in a timely manner

  • Procurement

  • Manage the finances and variation accounts, health and safety as well as providing a snag free delivery

  • Be client facing and as such be comfortable with client liaison/being the main point of contact

  • Ensure successful handover with final accounts and that all O&Ms are completed

  • Demonstrate a proven track record in managing sub-contractors and their delivery

The client is keeping an open mind around day rates, but they are likely to be in the region of 350 - 375 + travel. Please note that previous experience on UK-based projects is essential in order to be considered.
