Salary: £53,346-£64,016 per annum

Hours: 8.30am-4.45pm Monday-Thursday (Days)

Friday 8.30am-3.45pm  (Days)

Flexibility can be offered

Job Overview:

Our client is looking for an Electrical Plant Engineering Manager to manage a team of up to 35 Electricians, Electrical Engineers, Electrical Supervisors and Automation Technicians at a steel production facility in Shotton, North Wales.

This role is a by-product of an internal promotion and gives plenty of opportunity for professional career development.

You'll be at the heart of their senior engineering team, reporting directly to the Works Engineer.

What You'll Do:

As the Electrical Plant Engineering Manager, you'll lead our clients Electrical Engineering teams in implementing and supporting engineering best practice refining their Engineering improvement strategies

Your role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless operation of their site's electrical equipment, and you'll oversee a talented group including Automation Technicians and Electrical Maintenance Engineers

Here's What You'll Be Doing:


  • Mentor and manage our Engineering team, ensuring their continuous growth and development.
  • Champion training initiatives and succession planning to build a robust talent pipeline.
  • Lead the implementation of our PUWER compliance program, ensuring engineering safety standards are met.
  • Spearhead continuous improvement initiatives, aiming for top-tier safety, availability, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Foster a culture of safety excellence, driving towards a zero-harm environment.
  • Forge strong relationships with external labour services to ensure cost-effective maintenance solutions during high-demand periods.
  • Utilize root cause analysis tools and strategic maintenance processes to optimize plant efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering Cells to plan and execute engineering work seamlessly.
  • Identify and implement design opportunities to boost plant reliability and product quality.
  • Provide crucial engineering support for capital projects within Manufacturing.
  • Monitor and control maintenance budget expenditures to ensure optimal resource allocation.
  • Drive compliance with Company Bench Mark KPIs for plant reliability and quality.
  • Lead the development of our Asset Management Framework, ensuring its continuous improvement.
  • Stay at the forefront of technological advancements, driving our operations towards world-class standards.

Who We're Looking For:

Our client is seeking someone with an Engineering degree or equivalent experience, ideally working towards Chartered status with the IET.

You should bring extensive management experience and a proven track record of delivering results.

Knowledge of strip processing lines and Asset Management Systems is advantageous, alongside familiarity with regulatory requirements and strong decision-making skills.
