The Norwich Bioscience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) has an exciting opportunity for a Electrical Engineer to join their busy Facilities department.

The NBI Partnership provides high quality, non-scientific support services for the diverse community of staff, students and visiting workers at the Institutes (the Earlham Institute, John Innes Centre, The Sainsbury Laboratory and Quadram Institute Bioscience) and for the NBI Partnership. The Facilities Department provides a fully comprehensive Facilities Management Service to the John Innes Centre, the Sainsbury Laboratory and the Earlham Institute. Our prime objective is to deliver safe, high quality scientific environments, which support scientists involved with world class research.
The role:
The main purpose of the role will be to carry out maintenance, investigate and rectify defects, modify and install electrical building services in laboratory buildings, glasshouses, Controlled Environment Rooms (CERs) and support areas. The post-holder will work as part of a team to provide technical support and assistance. They will also assist with the development and implementation of Planned Preventative Maintenance.
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate will have completed a recognised apprenticeship in Electrical services (JIB Approved) or equivalent or possess equivalent experience and training. They will have previous experience of working as part of a maintenance team, as well as experience in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical equipment in a production environment. A good working knowledge of legislative requirements relating to mechanical services is essential. Previous experience of working in a scientific environment would be advantageous.
Additional information:
Salary on appointment will be within the range £27,750 to £30,000 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. You may also be required to participate in an on-call rota at which point you would be eligible to receive an additional 10% on-call allowance. This is a full-time post offered on an indefinite basis.
