Reporting to:                   Senior E&I Engineer

Location:                          Morson Projects head office in Irlam, Manchester

There will be some occasional site work required, the amount will vary based on the successful candidates capabilities and experience and the needs of the business.

The role will be office based but we take a pragmatic approach towards working from home when this fits with the needs of the business.

The Role:

The successful candidate will become an integral part of the E&I department and be involved in large projects from the outset, working alongside the Senior E&I Engineer. They will be exposed to a wide range of work, also working alongside software engineers, commissioning engineers, panel builders and business development staff. Typical projects will be in critical infrastructure and industrial settings involving designing, implementing and upgrading of control systems.

The goal is for the candidate to be able to work independently and take ownership of their own projects. As this position is open to a wide range of applicants, the time taken to achieve this will vary depending on the candidate. Training and support will be tailored as required.

Duties:

Designing control systems (schematics, layouts, BOMs, etc.)
Reviewing technical documents and standards to identify requirements
Working with in-house panel shop to support the manufacture of control panels
Working with bid team to prepare quotes and tenders
Visiting client sites to conduct surveys and support installation/commissioning works
Developing internal standards for electrical design and manufacturing
Essential Candidate Requirements:

Degree/HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or sufficient industry experience
Comfortable communicating with clients and colleagues in technical discussions
Proficient in basic IT skills (e.g. MS Windows general use and MS Office)
Appetite for growth and development
UK Driving License
Desirable Candidate Requirements:

Experience in a similar role as an Electrical Engineer
AutoCAD or Eplan Electric P8
Knowledge of electrical and/or safety standards and regulations
Familiarity with industrial control gear and switchgear components
Knowledge or experience with SCADA Systems, PLC & I/O Systems
Calculation of cable sizes, panel short circuit ratings, etc.
Site and/or hands on experience
Practical fault finding and/or commissioning experience
Networking and communications protocols
Programming in any programming language
Embedded systems, Microcontrollers, FPGAs
Motor drives (DOL, Soft start, Inverter, etc.)
Mechanical, process and automation systems
PCB and circuit design and/or PCB level fault finding
18th edition (or earlier) BS7671 and/or 2391 inspection & test
