Responsibilities:
- Ensures the safety, functionality, or compliance of newly implemented or altered assets, engineering processes, procedures, or systems with low to medium risk.
- Develops and implements engineering solutions/designs of low complexity within Building Services E&M/LVAC discipline, following defined engineering standards and governance, under supervision.
- Offers internal stakeholders appropriate challenge and professional advice to ensure the development or delivery of high-quality, tested engineering solutions for building services/LVAC Electrical design and assurance.
- Conducts on-site risk-based monitoring and surveillance of works as needed, addressing and escalating risks and issues appropriately.
- Maintains a strong understanding of relevant Tfl standards, Railway Standards, British Standards, and applicable statutory legislation.
- Evaluates, selects, and applies suitable solutions to low-risk/value/complexity engineering problems, aiming to improve efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and reduce operating costs.
Knowledge:
- Holds Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status, recognized international equivalent, or possesses equivalent knowledge and experience.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of the challenges associated with introducing new assets or changes in practice into the transport system, considering the necessary trade-offs between cost, time, and quality.
- Possesses good knowledge of Building Services Electrical engineering functions and basic knowledge of Mechanical, Fire, and Power engineering functions.
- Exhibits a basic understanding of the interfaces between own discipline/functional specialism and the wider transport system.
- Demonstrates a basic understanding of the principles of risk management and value engineering.
- Has a working knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, industry best practices, standards, and guidance.
- Shows a basic understanding of the TfL Vision, Mayoral Transport Strategy, business priorities, and financial constraints.
Skills & Experience required:
- Proficient in technical writing of CDS/Electrical Services Specifications, Value Engineering reports, Survey reports, Earthing and Bonding Plans, and Designers Risk Assessments.
- Proficient in LV design software, Lightning Protection design tools, and Lighting design software (Prodesign/Amtech/Havecomp/Dialux/Relux).
- Possesses good knowledge of BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations latest version and associated guidance documents.
- Has basic knowledge in CAD.
- Brings experience in London Underground/Network Rail projects, preferably in design or Engineering Assurance roles.
