Electrical Cable Engineer (Forensic Test Focus)

Russell Taylor is working with a well-established Electrical Engineering company based on the Wirral who have a unique and exciting position available for an Electrical Cable Engineer (With a forensic focus) to join a forward-thinking company where welfare is at the forefront of priorities. The ideal candidate could be anywhere from someone starting their career or an experienced professional looking to take the next step up. You will be delivering forensic and failure investigations with a primary focus on LV / MV / HV cable systems. There will be both office-based projects and practical laboratory work.
The Role:
Conduct forensic projects to Electrical Power Cable Systems (LV / MV / HV), determining the root cause of issues / failures; following up with practical reports to reduce future incidents.
Provide expert opinions on Cabling Systems across the Forensics division.
Build and develop relationships with customers within the cable industry; take lead with identifying new business opportunities.
Typical investigations:
Analysis of cable compliance (BS / IEC Standards)
Assessment of polymeric cable dielectrics (Voids, oxidations, inclusions etc...)
Assessment of paper cable systems for signs of failure
Failure investigations (Cable joints, cable terminations, HV sealing ends etc)
