Job Description
NES Fircroft are working with a large engineering client basede in Sheffield who are looking for an Electrical & Automation Engineer.
The Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an Electrical and Automation Engineer to join a small team in playing an important role in the delivering of complex product solutions throughout the full product lifecycle.
Working as a member of the engineering team providing an engineering service for the company, responsible for the electrical / automation engineering of a specific portion of a product or project.
Project responsibilities include productivity, technical output quality, resource control, progress, product standardisation, health and safety and compliance.
This role will report to the Engineering Service Manager – Downstream and will have regular contact with colleagues from all functional areas of the business.
You will have enthusiasm, be customer focused, results oriented and have a positive and solution-oriented attitude.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Specifying the electrical, instrumentation and control requirements for mechanical / fluids equipment on projects
Produce technically compliant and cost-effective design documentation; drawings, specifications, calculations, manuals etc. for a specific area/equipment and meet project requirements and company operating procedures / statutory obligations.
Ensure that the design and documentation of electrical equipment is produced to the required standards, within budget and agreed time scales.
Work with the engineering manager / lead engineer as the technical focus for a specific portion of a project ensuring a successful and commercially viable contract execution. This would include reporting budgets, progress and change management.
Report to the lead engineer and/or departmental manager on all matters relating to the project.
Provide technical support to ensure that equipment is manufactured, tested, installed and commissioned in accordance with the design and operational requirements, either from the office or at site
Develop, maintain and cultivate relationships with Clients, Suppliers, Sub Contractors to ensure successful execution of the project, future business.
Site support and commissioning of some products and equipment on clients sites.
Skills and Experiences
Ability to solve problems quickly and positively. Take an active part in the decision making of the engineering team.
Experience of project engineering and the project lifecycle from sales through to installation & commissioning from a specific electrical / automation engineering view.
Strong ability within machine design and instrumentation
Sizing and application of motors to optimise machine design
Knowledge of safety systems for industrial control
Proficient user of Eplan
Ability to communicate at all levels on both technical and non-technical issues
Working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and requirements
Must be self-motivated and proficient in time management with the ability to multi-task and set priorities for self and others
An understanding of Project Management, Planning, Procurement, Sales and R&D disciplines is desirable.
Exposure to different cultures from around the world leading to sensitivity towards those differing cultures (desirable)

Additional Information
Must have current UK Driving License, as well as the right to live and work in the UK and travel internationally without restrictions, if required, occasionally at short notice.
The following are desirable requirements for the position:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
Chartered Engineering Status
