Environment Health & Safety Officer

Adecco is pleased to be recruiting on behalf of our client for a full-time, permanent Environment, Health & Safety Officer. Our client is a global manufacturing company based in Workington. The position operates Monday to Friday, with working hours from either 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or

9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

The Role

The EHS Officer must support business priorities through the development and provision of effective and pragmatic solutions to EHS Management issues. The EHS Officer should provide support to the site and EHS Manager for maintaining and improving safety on site, including coaching and mentoring management and supervisors in EHS skills and techniques along with project management of key EHS initiatives and projects. The EHS Officer's main responsibilities will be to:

  • Drive the development and implementation of EHS training and development - focussing on continuously improving the knowledge and know-how of all co-workers: implementation of the "Take Action, Take Care" philosophy.
  • Manage and continuously improve the effectiveness of all the EHS committee forums on site.
  • Support the EHS Manager on reviewing all investments and machinery with the support of Project, Maintenance and Operations Managers.
  • Establish and build strong relationships with production floor, Safety and Union Representatives across the business to ensure a proactive Safety Culture within the business.
  • Maintain and improve Standards to comply with Key Priorities.
  • Completing monthly KPI, Environmental & CCA Reporting.
  • Support the EHS Manager in the delivery of the Strategic Safety Plan.
  • Support the EHS Manager in the implementation of the EHS systems and processes into the site Integrated Management System; management and control of system to ensure compliance and updated.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

The successful candidate will ideally have a NEBOSH Occupational H&S Diploma & NEBOSH Environmental Certificate, however my client is open to a candidate having a NEBOSH general certificate & will put a candidate through relevant training/qualifications.

The key attributes for this role are:

  • Prior experience of working in a similar role within manufacturing.
  • Well-developed communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present with ease to all levels.
  • The capability to work through people whilst achieving the highest standards.
  • The ability to inspire confidence and gain the commitment of all levels of co-worker.

Salary is depending on experience our client offers excellent benefits.
