WOSDEC, a third-sector organisation, has been a trusted provider of professional learning in Global Citizenship to educators in the West of Scotland for over two decades. Based in Glasgow, we are dedicated to empowering educators across the west of Scotland, equipping them with expertise in Global Citizenship, Learning for Sustainability (LfS) and rights-based Learning through an anti-racist lens.
WOSDEC is looking to expand our small team. We are seeking to recruit an Education Lead with responsibility for Global Citizenship in the Secondary Sector, bringing creativity and passion to the professional learning, resource development and anti-racist support we provide for educators across Scotland.
The ideal candidate will contribute to WOSDEC's strategic priorities, including developing and delivering national online teacher CLPL, as well as working locally on CLPL which supports local authority improvement plans and priorities for individual settings. This will involve developing partnerships and building relationships with our strong network of Local Authority leads and third sector partners, making connections across the breadth of Learning for Sustainability provision and representing WOSDEC and the wider network of Development Education Centres on a diverse range of national stakeholder groups.
WOSDEC are accredited by the GTCS to award teachers Professional Recognition in LfS and Global Citizenship. Our new team member will support the co-design, delivery and Professional Enquiry element of the secondary specific programme.
Essential Qualities
Current registration with the GTCS
Secondary qualified, with recent experience of working in this sector
In depth understanding of LfS and its connection across wider educational policies
Experience of co-designing and delivering teacher CLPL on themes relevant to Global Citizenship Education and LfS (both online and in person)
Experience of supporting teacher professional learning in anti-racist education (both online and in person)
Strategic development within both local and national networks
An awareness and understanding of current educational priorities and direction.
Ability to work flexibly, both independently and as part of a team
Ability to communicate effectively to a range of audiences: teachers,young people, senior leaders, policy leads
Experience of working in a hybrid context; using a variety of digital tools creatively to enhance participation and experience
Desirable Qualities
Experience of engaging in personal Practitioner Enquiry
Experience in supporting teachers with Practitioner Enquiry
Experience of critically analysing the secondary curriculum through a decolonial lens
Participation on Education Scotland's Building Racial Literacy Course
Experience of education resource writing (consulting with learners/educators on needs, co-designing, trialing, editing based on feedback)
Experience of collaborating on organisational vision and strategy
Experience of using Google Workspace
Leadership skills
Experience of partnership working across the education sector to build and maintain positive relationships to support an inclusive education system which values global citizenship education.
Competence in designing and analysing impact data, data handling and using data to improve practice.
