Pay Rate: £21.64  - £27.79 per hour

Hours: Full-time, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm. Initial contract is 3  months.

Main Duties of the Education Advisor:


  • Assist the Key Stage 5 Deputy Head teacher in enhancing educational progress and achievement for all Key Stage 5 (KS5) looked after children, including those placed in schools outside the Local Authority.
  • Focus on Key Stage 5, UCAS, Higher Education, and aiding NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) youth to re-engage in Education, Employment, or Training (EET).
  • Enhance pupil engagement in education through effective support, challenge, and intervention strategies.
  • Provide information, advice, and guidance to help young individuals make informed decisions regarding their education, training, and career paths, considering local opportunities.
  • Attend and potentially chair Personal Education Plan (PEP) meetings for designated pupils and participate in other multi-disciplinary meetings to assess progress and address issues.
  • Ensure prompt and effective communication within the Virtual School service, fostering teamwork and aligning efforts with service objectives and broader corporate parenting commitments.
  • Manage a caseload of looked after children, ensuring adherence to statutory timelines, and maintaining accurate records of Personal Education Plans.
  • Adapt to the dynamic and evolving needs of the young people supported by the Virtual School.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to accommodate the demands inherent in the nature of the service.
  • Offer support and constructive challenge within the professional network to promote high aspirations and meet children's educational needs, including facilitating urgent reviews or chairing professional meetings related to education matters.

Requirements of the Education Advisor:


  • Required to possess QTS (Qualified Teacher Status).
  • Minimum of 2 years' teaching experience.
  • Must provide evidence of eligibility to work and reside in the UK, along with current DBS check and two references.
