Position Title: EDS Buyer

Duration: 12 Month Rolling Contract

Position Description:

  • Reporting to the Global Commodity Leader you will have Global responsibility for specific EDS (Electrical Distribution System) commodities on behalf of the Client.
  • You will utilise your experience to analyse, define, and implement market and sourcing strategies for your designated commodities.
  • You will lead the Global sourcing activity through the Global Sourcing Process (GSP) up to contract award (SCPA). Both Global Strategy and Sourcing activity will be supported by the Regional Delivery teams for your commodities, utilising regional market intelligence and expertise.
  • You will lead the development of the supplier and internal stakeholder relationships to ensure strategic and programme alignment.
  • You will manage suppliers within your designated commodities, responsible for Supplier Business Reviews ensuring that the Global Commodity Strategy and Supply Base Market strategy is effectively deployed throughout all of the Clients' and the external supply chain.
  • You will support and work closely with the Regional Delivery teams and engage with specialists within the Purchasing Function as required to ensure optimum value creation and delivery for the Client, as well as leading stakeholder relationships and ensuring the Client is appropriately represented both internally and externally
  • This role is a pivotal role for interface with other key functions within the Client and acts as a core conduit for true cross functional working across Production Purchasing, MP&L, STA, Product Engineering, Cost Engineering and Manufacturing

Skills Required:

  • Experience of automotive procurement, ideally with electrical or high voltage EDS (Electrical distribution systems) within a pre-production SOP/Job 1 environment.
  • Management of supplier relationships, both tactical and strategic.
  • A strong communicator and negotiator with the ability to communicate effectively with key stakeholders to influence, ability and experience to lead cross functional negotiations with suppliers.
  • Strong MS excel / PowerPoint experience, able to assess large commercial data sets with ease.
  • Extracting key messages to A) Recommend a negotiation/strategy, B) Summarise commercial information (Cost, investment, tooling submissions from suppliers) information into internal strategic recommendations and updates.

Experience Required:

  • Degree qualified or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working in a global, multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to work independently, results driven, demonstrating tenacity, drive and perseverance with the ability to deliver operational plans in a complex, highly demanding environment.
  • Implementing and delivering purchasing strategies with the focus on total value chain delivery
  • Ability to identify opportunities for creating value in a commodity or commodities
  • A resilient and enthusiastic individual who responds constructively to new ideas and inputs

Experience Preferred:

  • Experience within EDS (Electrical distribution systems / wiring harnesses) or Electrical purchasing
  • An individual with a proven track record in delivering results in both favourable and unfavourable conditions
  • The ability to challenge in a positive way whilst building credibility and trust through experience and personal style
  • Delivering complex supply chain solutions in a fast paced, high pressured manufacturing environment

Education Preferred:

  • Role will utilise the Clients' Hybrid working model, with a mixture of office based and home working opportunities.
  • Experience within automotive / electrical is desirable but not essential, candidates with strong experience within purchasing and in particular new business award/sourcing would also be considered from other industries such as retail/FMCG etc.
