Job Title: Permanent DT Teacher (MPS or UPS with SEN Points)

Where: Alternative Provision

Location: The London Borough of Greenwich

Start: September 2024

Creative & Innovative Alternative Provision located in the London Borough of Greenwich is recruiting an experienced  MPS or UPS DT Teacher for a permanent appointment to commence in September 2024.

Ofsted rated “Good” Alternative Provision with welcoming and supportive staff.  The Headteacher has clear goals and aspirations for this provision and has the full support of a very strong Senior Leadership Team.

The successful DT Teacher will have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and will be responsible for delivering high-quality teaching and learning in Design and Technology, whilst also having the skills to manage challenging behaviour and work with students with SEMH, Autism and PDA.


  • You have either Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills status (QTLS)
  • Experience of teaching the KS3 & KS4 Curriculum in Design and Technology in a mainstream or Alternative Provision setting
  • Experience of working with students with SEMH, Autism and PDA, and a good understanding of their needs and how to support them
  • Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues and parents
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • Deliver engaging and challenging Design and Technology lessons to students in Alternative Provision
  • Plan and prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resources in line with the National Curriculum and other relevant frameworks
  • Manage challenging behaviour and use effective behaviour management strategies to ensure a positive learning environment
  • Work effectively with students with SEMH, Autism and PDA, adapting teaching methods to meet their individual needs
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members and external agencies to support students' academic and personal development
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including participating in school events and supporting extra-curricular activities
  • You live in easy commutable distance to The London Borough of Greenwich
