Join the group of Dr. Michael Booth to investigate novel signaling mechanisms in synthetic cells as part of the SIGSYNCELL Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network.University College London (UCL) Chemistry Department, ranked 2nd in the UK for research impact, invites applications for a Doctoral Candidate in Synthetic Cells. The successful candidate will work with Dr. Michael Booth on the SIGSYNCELL Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network, focusing on novel signaling mechanisms in synthetic cells. The project aims to engineer synthetic versions of natural transmembrane signaling systems to activate processes inside and outside synthetic cells without transferring molecules.Qualifications Must not have resided in the UK for more than 12 months over the past 3 years.Must have, or be expecting to achieve, a first or upper second-class MSc degree in Synthetic Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.Background or profound interest in synthetic biology/synthetic cells.Knowledge and/or practical experience in molecular biology, lipid compartments, and/or DNA nanotechnology.Willingness to work as part of a team and to travel and work across Europe.Applications Cover letter explaining motivation for applying.Curriculum vitae detailing educational qualifications, scientific achievements, and publications.Evidence of English proficiency.Copy of Bachelor’s and Master’s certificates (if available).Copy of Bachelor’s and Master’s transcripts.Two letters of recommendation from researchers familiar with your academic activities.For informal enquiries, contact Dr. Michael Booth at #####.
