The Divisional Director of Nursing is a senior leadership role in the Trust and plays an integral part in ensuring we deliver exceptional patient care. The successful candidate will be responsible for the strategic direction and overall provision of management of nursing services across a large division, ensuring the delivery of consistently high standard of care, patient experience and satisfaction. The post holder is a senior member of the leadership team for their responsible division and is the most senior nurse forming part of the Divisional senior leadership triumvirate.Main duties of the jobReporting to the Divisional Director and Deputy Director of Nursing and Quality, the post holder will develop, maintain and provide assurance on clinical and operational governance systems and processes, specifically clinical risk management, CQC standards, clinical policy and procedure, clinical quality, health and safety, patient experience, complaint systems and resolution, incident reporting and resolution, contractual quality measures, safeguarding . The DDN is required to interpret and formulate divisional long term strategic plans aligned to national and local health and social care strategy eg NHS long term Plan and Nursing and Midwifery strategy eg leading change adding valueThe DDN promotes the vision and values of the Nursing Profession within the Division and organisation, with a focus on acting as a professional role model. The post holder will:
Provide nursing advice to the Divisional Director to ensure that the division is working within the correct legislative quality and statutory nursing and midwifery requirements. The DDN is clinically accountable for the safe delivery of the clinical services within the division. Will provide vision and leadership in the development of the overall nursing agenda, taking the lead on the development of policies, care pathways and protocols ensuring implementation of these strategies and policies throughout the Division and Trust. Act on behalf of the Deputy Director and Executive Director of Nursing in the delivery of the corporate and professional agenda within their designated division. Deputise for the Deputy and Director of Nursing on a range of identified committees as required. Lead on nursing workforce and safe staffing analysis and reviews across the division. Be the responsible officer to determine and approve policies in relation to nursing practice and patient care across the division. Undertake large scale detailed reviews of local practice to benchmark against national guidelines which lead to improvements in patient and staff safety. Manage aspects of nursing/clinical complaints within the Division and when required will meet in conjunction with the Head of Service with families and carers This post will have lead responsibility for key areas of work / projects across the trust and within the Division working across all areas of responsibility with a particular focus on operational and clinical practice variations, education and training. Is responsible for leading effective work within multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the division and Trust discharges its functions effectively and efficiently. Is responsible for ensuring Nursing / Clinical Services meet their performance and governance objectives whilst maintaining a balance between the corporate, clinical and professional agendas with the ultimate goal of safety and quality for staff, patients / service users. Develops and maintains key relationships with colleagues within the Trust and its partners and contributes to Fylde Coast wide networks and working groups. Develops and maintains key relationships with Local Authority Partnerships in designing and delivering integrated services where appropriate
Person SpecificationEducationEssential
oRegistered Nurse - current and relevant registration on NMC register. oMasters level qualification in related subject / working towards or portfolio of evidence working at that level. oEvidence of CPD in line with professional regulatory guidance

Experience & KnowledgeEssential
oSubstantial clinical and managerial experience, relevant to this post, at minimum of divisional level with a track record of achievement of objectives. oRecent experience of managing complex professional matters/issue oExperience of implementing nursing quality assurance metrics oExperience of embedding robust clinical and corporate systems at local level, specifically relevant to nursing evidence of leading and implementing successful change oEvidence of persuasive and strong influencing skills and the ability to manage conflict when advising senior managers and clinicians in relation to risk management and quality improvement. oExperience of managing and mitigating risk oExperience of working across organisational boundaries and developing effective partnerships
