JOB DESCRIPTION:The Disability Support Worker is responsible for providing support services aimed at maximising the living, employment, social and recreational skills of people with a disability. Community inclusion, independence, decision making, and personal choice should be promoted through these supports, with a focus on individual needs.TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:Support Clients to meet their NDIS goals.Encourage and assist Clients with daily activities, home care, personal care as requiredEffective communication skillsAbility to work independently and effectively manage timeDemonstrate understanding of a person-centred approachFollow established support work practicesEffective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to connect with participantsPromote and assist Clients to live an active, healthy and positive lifestyleAbility to follow individual support care plansAvailability to work various shifts Monday to SundaySkill Development - Shopping, cooking, budgeting, using public transportTransport Clients as required.Community Access - Assist clients to engage with the community by taking the participant to various events and activities in the communityAny other reasonable duties as requiredFollow all organisational policies and procedures.TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT:CasualREPORT TO:ManagerLOCATION:CroydonQUALIFICATIONS/ REQUIREMENTS:Cert III Individual Support/ Cert Mental Health/ Cert in Aged Care/ Cert in Community Services/ Cert Disability Work or similar. Current WWCCCriminal Record Check or willing to undergo oneFirst Aid CertificateDriver's License (Reliable and comprehensively insured vehicle) Smart phoneMinimum 6 months relevant experience. SKILLS:Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to build rapport and trust with clients.Strong time management and ability to priorities. Ability to use Microsoft Office suite of programs and other computer systems for record keeping. Excellent problem solving and conflict management skills. Ability to work as part of a team and maintain good working relationships.
