We are looking for an ambitious, experienced Director to join a well-regarded consultancy firm working within the UK power market.


This is an opportunity to join a world-leading consultancy business who have built strong relationship with many leading clients in the UK across power, energy, nuclear, transmission and distribution.
Given the rapid expansion of the UK power market we are looking for a Director to head up and grow the transmission and distribution sector.


With a strong foundation, there are amazing plans for growth with expansion and improvement of transmission and distribution networks.


About the role:

  • It requires a strategic thinker with a robust technical and/or commercial background that provides the foundation for direct or transferable skills. We are looking for someone with a growth mindset!
  • The key focus will be to develop the account through strategic relationships and strategies. The successful candidate will form part of the senior leadership team.
  • The role requires a natural ability to collaborate with existing teams to grow the business and the ability to travel when required.

Responsibilities:

  • This opportunity is strategically client-focused, and you will be integral to the account's growth. You will have a large degree of autonomy allowing you to develop and pursue opportunities and develop the sector strategy.
  • You will build and deliver the market business strategy and to drive work generation.
  • You will draw on existing professional network or build on the existing network to build on the current reputation in the marketplace.
  • You will work closely with other internal practices to provide visibility of pipeline to inform recruitment strategies, mobilising teams to deliver work and more.
  • You will continuously engage with the client to ensure service delivery satisfaction.
  • Positive, collaborative and engaging behavioural traits are equally critical to the role as is a technical and/or commercial background with relevant or transferable skills. The role involves meeting and working with senior internal and external stakeholders and with the breadth and depth of delivery teams. The ability to motivate others for them to perform to their potential and develop to the next level is a key aspect of the role.

Requirements:

  • Excellent commercial skills. The ability to apply commercial acumen to understand profitability.
  • Excellent communication skills and relationship building skills.
  • Growing, mentoring and leading teams through key account management skills.
  • Previous experience in bidding and winning work.
  • Previous experience of profit and loss accountability
  • Ideally, an established client base and contacts within this industry.
  • Advanced understanding of the NEC contract.
  • Relevant degree with sufficient and appropriate consulting experience or equivalent.
  • Ideally chartered member of an appropriate professional body.
