Overview:The Director, Risk and Compliance will lead a team of Risk and Compliance professionals within the Corporate Markets division as a member of the leadership team.
The Corporate Markets division itself operates across four key regions – Europe, Australia/New Zealand, India and Hong Kong – in respect of a number of service verticals including Registry, Capital Markets, Investor Relations and Share Plans for both listed and unlisted corporates.The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the team provide an independent, commercial assessment of risks, assisting the business to ensure adequate and effective controls are implemented
within the Group’s Risk and Compliance appetite.
This is a Senior Leadership role as the successful candidate will have a close working relationship with the CEO of Corporate Markets.

What you need:Must have’s:As with any role, we want to find the right person and we want to make sure you know it’s the right role for you too.
This means you’ll really need:•
Demonstrable experience of developing and implementing risk management and compliance frameworks and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards•
The ability to promote a sustainable culture of risk awareness in the Corporate Markets business that is consistent with the overall business’ core values•
A comprehensive understanding, in addition to practicable and demonstrated experience of risk management practice and frameworks, within the financial services industry in Europe, preferably within banking•
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to simplify complex concepts for a range of audiences and inspire confidence whilst influencing, leading, coaching and motivating others•
Demonstrable stakeholder engagement skills with proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships and negotiate and influence stakeholders at all levels•
A track record of leading a small team, building capability within the team and positioning a function as being a trusted and valued advisor to the business •
A strategic mindset with outstanding organisational and leadership skills, commercial acumen and the courage, resilience, drive and determination to lead high performing teams
It would be nice to have:•
An ability to work effectively in a global organisation, including the skills to lead and work across cultures and borders•
A qualification in Business, Commerce or a related field, combined with ongoing professional development, such as post-graduate or vocational study•
An understanding of regulators and key legislation in Australia/New Zealand, India and Hong Kong
Day to Day:There are several activities you will undertake as part of the role:•
Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of risk management strategies and recommending enhancements as required•
You’ll identify, analyse and assess proposals for newly identified risks within the Corporate Markets business, including new products, variations in products and/or business acquisitions•
Assisting with operationalising Group requirements, including the development of the Group and Divisional Risk Appetite Statement within the Corporate Markets business•
Compiling, assessing and reporting on risk performance to management, relevant risk committees and Boards•
Proactively communicating and engaging with senior managers in the Corporate Markets business and with other key internal stakeholders to assess the risk/reward balance in their operations and provide timely, effective commercial advice and guidance with respect to risk matters•
Actively collaborate with peers to further develop a leading global Risk and Compliance function•
Work with first line Risk teams to ensure adequate and effective operational controls in accordance with the broader Group control framework•
Managing BCP process and requirements for the European region•
Developing a high performing Risk and Compliance team who collectively work together to support the business in providing expert, valued and commercial advice to the business on Risk and Compliance related issues
