Director of Pharmacy & Medicines OptimisationBand 9Job overviewThis is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, dynamic, inclusive and innovative Director of Pharmacy and Medicines Optimisation to join our organisation and be part of a 6,500 workforce. As a Teaching Hospital we are at the forefront of research, education and innovation in healthcare and are the home of the Bradford Institute for Health Research [BIHR]. We are one of 5 Trusts across England to host a regional Patient Recruitment Centre, part of a £7million government investment and are proud to have been the first NHS Organisation to implement a Command Centre to help transform care.Pharmacy services are provided from Bradford Royal Infirmary and St Lukes Hospital sites. In your role you will provide strategic, professional and operational leadership of pharmacy services across our organisation. We can offer staff gymnasiums on both hospital sites, an excellent pension scheme and advice on childcare.Main duties of the jobThe post holder will provide strong leadership and management of the pharmacy and medicines optimisation clinical service unit (PMOCSU) with combined duties of Clinical Director and General Management of the CSU. You will be accountable for Pharmaceutical Services provided to the Trust and will ensure that the Trust delivers to a high standard all relevant aspects of the medicines management and clinical governance agendas.There are over 6,500 staff employed within the Trust and the vast majority (>80%) either undertake drug related activities and/or have responsibilities directly or indirectly associated with medicines optimisation. Medicines optimisationencompasses the selection, procurement, dispensing, delivery, prescribing, administration and review of medicines to optimise the contribution they make to produce informed and desired outcomes of patient care. It includes all the related processes, activities and systems inside and outside of pharmacy undertaken by doctors, nurses, porters, GPs, pharmacy staff etc.Pharmacy services are provided from Bradford Royal Infirmary. Services are provided to community hospitals and several other external customers.The PMOCSU provides a comprehensive range of pharmaceutical services to the Trust and the successful candidate is required to demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.
