Role Overview:
The Director of Maintenance and Engineering will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the engineering department in our new state-of-the-art aircraft maintenance facility. As a key leader, this role requires adept management skills to ensure the smooth functioning of engineering activities while prioritising the upkeep of essential equipment. Utilising best practices and procedures in engineering, the Director will integrate expert technical guidance into engineering initiatives, encompassing safety testing, repair, and maintenance procedures across all organisational equipment. This is a hands-on role that requires in-depth knowledge of aircraft maintenance regulations, base maintenance procedures, and practical experience on the shop floor. This position would suit an ambitious candidate, committed to operational excellence, who wants to grow and develop with the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee all maintenance and engineering operations at our aviation base maintenance facility.
Ensure compliance with EASA Part M regulations for aircraft maintenance, including the development and implementation of maintenance programmes.
Provide hands-on support and guidance to maintenance teams, ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
Collaborate with engineering teams to develop innovative solutions and improvements to maintenance processes and procedures.
Manage and optimise resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to meet operational objectives and timelines.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, customers, and stakeholders to ensure adherence to all applicable regulations and standards.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with aircraft manufacturers, suppliers, and service providers to support maintenance activities.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness and efficiency.
Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.
Serve as a key point of contact for technical inquiries, troubleshooting, and resolution of maintenance-related issues.
Ideal Candidate:
Form 4 holder or aspiring to achieve Form 4 holder status in this role.
Extensive knowledge and practical experience of EASA Part M regulations for aircraft maintenance.
Previous experience as an engineer or time served on the shop floor in an aviation maintenance environment.
Strong base maintenance knowledge and experience, particularly with narrow-body aircraft.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and lead by example.
Proven track record of driving results and achieving operational excellence.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Aviation Maintenance, Engineering, or related field (preferred).
Relevant certifications or licences in aircraft maintenance and engineering.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in aviation maintenance and engineering, with 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.
