Job Description
As a charitable housing association, Thirteen exists to provide housing and support services across the North East of England, Yorkshire, and the Humber region. Thirteen Group currently manages 35,000 homes providing a safe place to live for more than 73,000 people across the region. This is an exciting opportunity to join Thirteen Group as their Director of Governance. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the successful candidate will oversee the delivery of Governance services, which will include; Company Secretariat duties, Governance and Executive support, Compliance, Risk and Assurance, Safeguarding, Legal, and Procurement, ensuring that such services fully comply with statutory and regulatory requirements and the Group’s Strategic ambitions.
Responsibilities of the role include:
Contribute to leading and delivering on the priorities in the Strategic Plan, and to the development of a values-led, high-performing, commercially driven culture.
Lead on articulating the Group’s Vision and Values within the directorate and ensure that all colleagues understand how their roles support the achievement of the strategic priorities.
Reporting to the Audit and Risk Committee on all matters of Compliance and Assurance.
Lead on Business Continuity Planning and work alongside the Director of IT, Data and Cyber Security in support of Thirteen’s Disaster Recovery Plan.
Lead on, and promote, the benefits of Compliance and Customer Involvement across Thirteen.
Ensure the Group is delivering it’s procurement activities, ensuring good practice and value for money is achieved whilst complying with statutory requirements, guidance, standing orders/financial regulations.
Ensure Health and Safety is a priority for the group and the board, ensuring robust systems of control, good practice and encouraging a culture that embraces health and safety compliance.
Take a co-regulatory approach to ensuring that Thirteen is meeting its Regulatory Standards (including consumer standards).
Thirteen Group is looking to appoint a senior leader who has the following attributes;
A proven track record of successful strategic leadership, board development, and advisory.
Direct management and development experience of senior professional colleagues within a Governance function.
Well-developed Company Secretariat skills and knowledge, with proven experience of identifying and delivering a compliance and assurance framework in a complex operating environment.
Strong business management skills and understanding of delivering excellent customer service.
Excellent programme and project management skills.
Ability to lead, inspire, motivate and develop colleagues at all levels.
Demonstrable experience of working effectively in partnership with multiple stakeholders including customers, colleagues, boards.
Ability to produce clear, concise and well written reports.
A confident, independent, energetic and visible leader.
