through life-changing education and research, it is vital for the organisation to attract the very best talent into key leadership roles to drive the delivery of its strategic objectives. It is with this in mind that Queen’s University Belfast is seeking to appoint a highly credible and driven finance leader as the Director of Finance.
Reporting to the Vice President and Chief Finance and Resource Officer, the Director of Finance will lead a large multi-disciplinary team across a range of key financial, commercial and accounting service activities, including finance business partnering, treasury management, investments and capital planning, as well as providing crucial financial and commercial advice and support to the Belfast Region City Deal Programme.
The Director of Finance will have significant financial leadership experience within a large or complex organisation, with exceptionally strong interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with an analytical and creative mindset capable of developing solutions at pace to support the University’s growth and change agenda.
In addition, the successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following combination of skills and background:
Educated to degree level or equivalent with a recognised professional accountancy qualification (e.g. CAI, ACCA etc.).
A proven record of driving positive change through effective financial leadership.
Significant experience in supporting the highest standards of operational performance in a Finance Business Partnering model.
A proven track record of harnessing new and innovative technologies to deliver demonstrable improvements in how financial management information is utilised to drive improvements in operational performance.
Significant treasury management experience.
A track record of successfully leading large teams, providing best in class financial management services to a range of stakeholders in a dynamic and complex operating environment.
A track record of working at pace with multi-disciplinary teams to positively influence the development of strategies which deliver positive business outcomes.
