The Role and the Team
We’re looking for a Director of Data to join our team. As a key member of our Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you’ll report to the Chief Product Officer and be responsible for our data strategy and execution across data science, insights, analytics engineering and market research.
If you have a strong background in data management, analytics, and data science, a proven track record of implementing scalable solutions, building new teams and capabilities and are an experienced manager and team player that can operate well in a cross functional environment, we’d love to hear from you!
What You’ll Do
Provide strategic direction and vision for the analytics engineering, insights, data science, and market research teams
Collaborate with the Executive Team and the SLT to align data initiatives with Blue Light Card’s goals and objectives. This will involve working together with marketing, commercial, product development, and customer experience teams
Set up the operational model for data management, both within the team as well as in partnership with other areas of the organization
Champion and support the design, development, and maintenance of scalable data pipelines and infrastructure. Ensure that our data is accurate, reliable and compliant
Guide and support the data science team in the development and deployment of predictive models, machine learning algorithms and integration of new GenAI solutions
In partnership with the business, spearhead the creation of actionable insights and reports to support strategic decision-making across the organization both from a quantitative and qualitative standpoint
Guide the team to develop personalised user experiences through data. This includes leveraging user data for tailored product offerings, content curation, and recommendation systems
Evangelise and champion internally, new trends and emerging technologies in the data space
Hire, coach, nurture, develop and manage a growing teamembracing our culture and values
What You’ll Bring
Expertise in the data space both on a strategic and operational level in Consumer Tech, ideally in a marketplace, e-commerce or affiliate setting
Extensive experience with data science and AI
Track record in using data to drive significant improvements in business KPIs with a particular emphasis on user growth, user engagement, and monetization
Good understanding of advanced segmentation techniques, consumer behavior and personalisation techniques
Proven record of partnering with the business to solve complex business problems leveraging data and your strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication, able to story tell effectively through data and adjust your communication style to non-technical stakeholders
Technical experience
Previous experience with cloud platforms such as AWS
Experienced in SQL, Excel, Python, etc.
Deep understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and predictive modelling. Previous experience in search and recommendations
Strong proficiency in data management, data warehousing, and ETL processes
Previous experience with product analytics and tracking tools (e.g. Amplitude, Google), experimentation tools (e.g. Amplitude), and visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau)
