Job Description
Are you an experienced Accounting professional looking for a career with a growing organization?
CAA’s Club Group is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their Finance team as a Director, Group Accounting Policy. In this position, you will provide leadership on the IFRS 17 initiative, oversee the organization’s regulatory reporting function, implement new accounting standards and recommend best practices.
What You Will Do
Lead the IFRS 17 initiative which includes but is not limited to providing technical accounting analysis, review and entity-wide training to key stakeholders within the organization
Lead the implementation of new accounting standards/pronouncements at a Group and legal entity level
Oversee the regulatory reporting function, which includes monitoring IFRS 17 QIS submissions, submitting the IFRS 17 project status reports and upcoming changes to the P&C-1
Monitor OSFI, FSRA, ATI and other regulators’ publications while maintaining an evolving understanding of insurance legislation, regulation, and industry trends
Periodic review and assessment of the company’s adherence to regulatory reporting standards
Support the finance department with the drafting of new accounting policies and updating/reviewing existing policies
Analyze internal procedures and provide recommendations on best practices
Support the year-end audit process
Job Requirements
Who You Are
10+ years of industry experience managing multiple resources / business units with technical accounting experience
Effective people manager, coach and mentor
Ability to provide on-the-job training and develop the technical skills of the staff
Experienced with technical accounting research and memo preparation
Knowledge of IFRS and other applicable accounting standards
Accounting system knowledge and implementation experience
Knowledge of regulatory standards
