SCE/GFME plays a critical role in ensuring that healthcare professionals are educated on the appropriate use of our medicines and have the information they need to improve outcomes for their patients. We develop strategies, tools, and guidance to empower Medical (Home Office, Market and Field Medical/FM) teams around the globe and ensure that they are aware, informed, engaged, and equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their roles effectively and compliantly. Our Directors in GFME are strategic leaders within the Medical matrix organization for their respective therapeutic areas, serving to bridge the global medical vision and strategies into successful field medical execution. Function: Global Medical
Group: Global Field Medical Excellence (GFME) | Medical Excellence and Policy (MEP) Location: Uxbridge, UK OR Princeton Pike, NJ USKey Accountabilities Reports to Senior Director, Global Field Medical Excellence, Oncology and Haematology within the Global Medical Excellence and Policy (MEP) team, a pillar of the Scientific Communications and Engagement (SCE) organization Active contributor to global medical strategic planning (via AIMS teams, Launch teams or other matrix teams), informing development of medical strategies and plans, leveraging medical insights and representing the voice of the FM teams in the markets Accountable to facilitate pull though of medical strategies/initiatives relevant to the field medical team in support of the FM objectives for assigned TA, assets and indications.
Partners with WW Medical, WW Medical Learning teams to ensure effective communication and the pull through of the scientific narrative(s) for assigned TA/Asset/Indications Partners with WW Medical to ensure strategic alignment and focus of topics and data relevant for scientific exchange, and for the development of corresponding Medical Communication Topics (MCTs) for interaction documentation Fosters collective efforts across matrix and market medical teams to optimize medical insight quality, analysis, communications and reporting; Accountable for high functioning global Fast Insight Review (FIRe) teams
Forges collaborations with global development, HEOR and Medical Evidence Generation teams to ensure FM teams are equipped direction, training, communications and resources to effectively provide support for priority BMS sponsored studies
Identifies and drives opportunities to optimize and standardize GME deliverables and ways of working across TAs/Assets/Indications to ensure visibility and maximize FME & FM value to the organization Strategy Accountable for FM therapeutic area strategies, guidance, franchise resources, WW FM study support and input into scientific data training in partnership with the Scientific communications training team for prioritised new data disclosures Contributes to Disease Area Medical Strategies and long-term plans and participates actively in the AIMS, Medical TA Forum meetings, SCE cross team meetings and Brand Matrix Teams for the therapeutic area Partners with WW Medical Leads to ensure FM input in the WW Field Medical plans that support the overall Medical strategies Defines FM Medical Communication Topics (MCTs) and Key Insight Topics (KITs) and Key Insight Details (KIDs) for stakeholder interactions and insight collections Provides clear direction to country field medical to drive overall execution of scientific communication for the therapeutic area Develops strategy for global FIRe meetings aligned with Medical matrix stakeholders; facilitates FIRe meetings, develops summary reports, and drives follow-up and follow-through of actions Execution Ensure the WW Medical Strategy is reflected in the development of the FM communications and training plans for the assigned TA/Asset/Indication(s)
Partners with Medical Communications teams to ensure coordination for timely development of high-quality materials for use with customers, which are aligned with needs and internal strategy Leads FM related congress support – eg session coverage allocations and medical booth activities FM study support - key contact person for Global Clinical Operations (GCO), HEOR, and Medical Evidence Generation (MEG) to coordinate appropriate regional FM study support and ensures effective execution of these activities Provides strategic recommendation for scientific communication including deployment of Field Medical resources, model and structure across the geographies to ensure the appropriate level of scientific communication within the TA in different phases of the lifecycle Works with global and regional team and Country Medical Directors/Disease Area Heads/FM FLMs (CMDs/DAHs/FM First Line Managers) to ensure appropriate lifecycle flexing of FM Team across markets as appropriate Collaborates with WW Medical to select appropriate channels for thought leader (TL) interactions and facilitates integration and review of TL feedback and insights to inform actionable plans Collaborates with WW Medical teams to demonstrate the value of FM
Ensures compliance with GMA SOPs, GCP and ICH, Compliance policies and procedures and BMS Compliance Code of Conduct, as well as with legal and ethical standards Alerts management and the Compliance Officer of potential compliance issues, as appropriate Demonstrates consistent ethical and professional behavior Communications & Value Demonstration Ensures alignment with key stakeholders on FM strategy and activities Partners with Market Medical leads, WW Medical teams, and FM Operations to define objectives and corresponding measures of success Defines and demonstrates value creation of FM scientific engagement and communication Facilitates FM best practice sharing and implementation across TAs and markets Fosters communication and alignment with alliance partners, as appropriate Qualifications, Skills & Experience Medical/Scientific background from prior Field Medical deployed and/or Field Medical Management position in Pharma or Biotech company (5+ years advantageous) Experience and proven knowledge in disease-state area (advantageous) Country or regional medical role (2 years desirable) Demonstrated ability to lead and influence effectively across a matrixed, multicultural organization and manage Medical and Commercial activities Experience in developing global Medical/Commercial strategy and objectives for an asset portfolio Proven track record in strategic thinking, ability to synthesize data and communicate effectively (excellent written/oral English mandatory), and demonstrate advanced presentation skills Proven ability to innovate and to rapidly adapt to a fast-changing environment Understand regulatory policy & guidance for Medical communications in the industry Proven understanding of the medical environment and industry trends and their impact on the business Demonstrated skills with tools and technologies used to communicate and train large Medical audiences (Live & Remote) Ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 20%
