Shape a service that shapes better lives
It’s an exciting time in Swindon as we look to the future. As a Council we are developing our new Corporate Plan for 2024-27 which focuses on reducing inequality, building a better Swindon, and achieving net zero. It is of crucial importance that the corporate plan is created with our communities rather than in isolation, and we held a borough-wide engagement exercise ‘Let’s talk Swindon’ with residents, council partners and staff at the beginning of the year to get their thoughts and feedback on the 3-year vision. This is just the beginning. It’s an exciting time in Swindon as we look to the future. We have bold ambitions to increase engagement with our residents and communities and change how they interact with the Council, which will ultimately shape our borough of the future.
We are now looking for a Director Adult Services to play a key role in delivering this wider Council vision. Reporting to the Corporate Director Integrated Adult Services (DASS), you’ll be responsible for the full range of adult and safeguarding services, working closely with members, partners, and communities. Whilst our adult services are performing well overall, there is still scope for transforming the way in which we work, including how we assess and manage our front door. Empowering staff through a high support high challenge culture and improving how we utilise performance data whilst maintaining our strong social care values will be key areas of focus. There are some exciting technological developments taking place, including the utilisation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in both service delivery to promote independence, as well as for our staff, which will help free up time to focus on what really matters: supporting our residents and communities to thrive.
You’ll bring a strong track record of delivering and sustaining the highest quality safeguarding, protection, care and provision for adults. The role requires someone with strong experience and expertise in actively listening to the voice of those we serve and putting this at the heart of service priorities and delivery. There are exciting opportunities to act up and work outside of your direct sphere of influence and Swindon is a place where you can achieve things quickly. This role is an opportunity to influence a whole service and change the offer of what social care looks like for our diverse population. If you’re an inspirational leader who is passionate about making a real difference to people’s lives, then we’d love to hear from you.
