Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Technology Principal to join our Digital Capability and work alongside our Digital, Data and Platform Leads. Our Digital Capability is expanding rapidly and there will be an opportunity for you to achieve medium and long-term career goals and to also shape strategic direction in regard of technology solutions, with a focus on Cloud technology (Azure & AWS)
Reporting to the UK Public Digital Sector Lead, you will be part of the Digital Sector team made up of other likeminded Technology Principals, with a focus on the UK Public Sector.
Understanding the customers’ needs, being accountable for successful technical delivery, establishing technical direction, delivering technical excellence, and driving innovation, are all key aspects of the role. With no day the same, you’ll have a wide range of work, with a strategic focus and hands-on problem solving with teams when required.
You’ll bring experience working with large Government departments, agencies, or local authorities, and delivered critical or high-profile outcomes. You’ll have experience delivering to the Gov.UK Service Standard (discovery, alpha, beta, live) and be comfortable with application modernisation and commonly used technologies and languages.
You will need to be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) and willing to undergo security checks, be based in the UK and have willingness to travel within the UK to Version 1 and Government client sites.
Qualifications
Proven breadth of experience and accountability across various types of technology deliveries
Proven application experience across architecture, engineering, software, integration, test and cloud (AWS, Azure)technologies.
Deep understanding of how to deliver high quality, reliable, scalable, secure, and observable software solutions, encompassing Agile methodologies, proven design patterns, DevOps tooling and continuous delivery, Test automation and Monitoring.
Experience in shaping, managing and leading large / complex technical workstreams within global multi-supplier engagements.
Practical engineering background - you can lead development teams, resolve technical issues, and prioritise non-functional requirements to ensure a successful technical delivery.
Able to establish excellence in technical delivery, identify and mitigate risks early-on and recover challenged technical deliveries.
Ability to communicate effectively and credibly with senior stakeholders, to negotiate, influence and shape positive technology outcomes.
Commercial and business awareness to drive business growth across an account, via pre-sales activities such as preparing and delivering presentations, bid responses, writing technical and commercial documents and assist in project forecasting, planning, estimation, and delivery.
Able to produce and validate estimates for various sized engagements, from projects to programmes of work.
Able to prioritise your time across multiple engagements, particularly when working to deadlines.
Promote reuse and enhanced working practices, processes, guidance and templates.
A demonstrated ability in managing, coaching, and developing members of your team, including performance management activities.
Be involved in the tech community and an active observer of latest trends and technologies, including standards, legislation and regulation relevant to the sector.
Excellent verbal and written English ability.
