Diesel Field Service Engineer


£41,000 PA + 15% Uplift for Nights  


Shift: Predominantly Nights


Location: North West England


Company Van, Tooling, Fuel Card, Expenses


(+ Standby & overtime on weekends)



Job Description 


A well-established and reputable client of ours is seeking a Diesel Field Service Engineer to add to their Rail business field service team.  



The ideal candidate for the Diesel Field Service Engineer  position will be a positive team player with a self-starter attitude and have ideally 2 or more years' experience maintaining/ repairing large commercial diesel engines. Recent commercial diesel apprenticeship graduates who can demonstrate they have the required aptitude are also encouraged to apply.  



Responsibilities for the Diesel Field Service Engineer



  • Initial preparation of work (tools, parts etc.), day to day liaison with customers and keeping accurate, concise records of work completed.

  • Working with the Project Management team on-site or at depots to deliver projects within the budget and on time.

  • Ensure that all drawings, tooling, fixtures, test equipment are fit for purpose & available prior to the commencement of a job

  • Identify and report new revenue opportunities

  • Ability to solve problems and act as first point of contact, providing support and escalating if required

  • Identify improvements within your area



Experience/ Qualifications for the Diesel Field Service Engineer



  • At least 2 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above, including English Language and Mathematics.



  • Mechanical and/or Electrical engineering ONC, or NVQ

  • Level 3 or equivalent qualification

  • Clean & Full Driving Licence
