We support philanthropists to help their personal giving make the most difference. We work with donors to invest in community action that enables people and places to flourish. We work in partnership with communities to maximise opportunities from place-based funds. And we offer social investment opportunities to enable social enterprises, community organisations and charities to grow and deliver positive social impact.

Key to our success is the growth of new philanthropic businesses. Our Development Team is the first point of contact for individuals, companies and organisations seeking to match their giving aspirations with our expertise and knowledge.

This new role will further support this team, and you will play an integral part in nurturing new donor relationships. Reporting to and working with the Head of Development, a key part of this role will be creating an excellent first impression and early-stage experience of Foundation Scotland, then supporting the donor on their journey and establishing new funds for distribution.

Part of your remit will be to create compelling proposals and engagement plans for attracting new donors. You will be responsible for donor research, developing solicitation strategies and cultivating relationships with prospective donors.

The Development Adviser is aligned at a Senior level, and is expected to develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge within assigned areas, such as specialist areas of philanthropic development and guidance and innovations that ultimately seek to maximise opportunities for new and existing donor business development, and fund income. They will share their knowledge and expertise back into the organisation through coaching, mentoring, peer support and/or delivery of training modules. The Development Adviser will evidence the credibility to represent Foundation Scotland with more complex donor relationships and/or in external forums.

This role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and you must be highly competent in bringing data to life in both verbal and written communication. We are seeking someone who will inspire confidence as well as bringing warmth and authenticity to the role.

Your standards will be impeccable, your attitude positive and you must have the motivation to help us continue to make a positive impact on society in Scotland.

If that sounds like you, and you have the skills and experience for this role, we would be delighted to hear from you. To find out more, please contact our recruitment partner LHH on +44 (0) (phone number removed).

Applications in the form of a tailored CV and a covering letter (no longer than two pages), highlighting your skills and experience pertinent to the role, should arrive no later than Sunday 7 April 2024.
