Provide technical support over the phone and ensure remote support for all end-user equipment, systems and software supported by the IT Shared Service. Support will be carried out in accordance with the customer's Service Level Agreement as well as the departmental guidelines and policies in the most efficient way.Main duties of the jobWe are looking to recruit a helpful, friendly and motivated person to be part of our IT Desktop Support Team based at Royal Derby Hospital.You will be confident in your IT skills and be able to demonstrate experience in an IT support services environment. Ensure that new equipment is installed in a timely manner, to a high standard and all inventory information is up to date.Upgrade and update software to meet organisational and technical requirements.Configure PCs and other equipment to ensure it meets IT standards and user requirements. Ensure that software images are correctly applied and applications are set up and working correctly.Supports the day-to-day running of the first line support of the IT function and maintains the Trust's systems to ensure seamless and continuous provision of accurate information.Meets agreed service levels and response rates, records all work carried out on the service desk system. Ensures that the service desk are kept aware of faults, progress and scheduled maintenance.Develops relationships with end users and clients to provide timely identification and understanding of user requirements and enhance IM&T's ability to respond to them.Unloading deliveries. Moving and storing boxes and equipment to help maintain a safe and tidy work place.Ensure maximum benefits are achieved from all IT hardware/software by keeping up to date on advances in this field.Follow procedures for maintenance/change control of IT systems.Help perform the computer rooms fire and theft systems checks and documents the results.Liaise with Network Support and Server Team to ensure equipment is commissioned appropriately.Carry out backups on all systems and ensure the tapes are stored correctly, in line with departmental procedures. Maintain logs of tapes used and faults escalated. Replace aged or defective tapes as required.Implement computer room and tape storage security measures, in line with Trust procedures.Follow all policies and procedures that govern working practices within the Trust.Follow the Trust’s IM & T Security and IG Policies, and ensures that all computer security procedures are followed at all times, to maintain confidentiality and the requirements of the Data Protection Act.Please see attached Job description and Person Specification.
