Salary: Up to �49,742 (+ pay award pending from April 2024)
Hours: Full Time
Contract: 2-year fixed term
Location: Bromley Civic Centre/flexible working

Bromley is dedicated to prioritizing the well-being of children and young people in the Borough. We are seeking a highly talented and influential Designated Social Care Officer (DSCO) to champion our key priorities across SEND and social care.

Bromley Children's Social Care has recently earned an Ofsted rating of "outstanding."

About the Role: This is a fantastic opportunity to shape a new role focused on enhancing collaborative working between Education, Health, and Social Care. As the DSCO, you will strategically lead in embedding the social care aspects of the SEND strategy across the local authority. Your role will ensure compliance with legislative requirements of the SEND Code of Practice 0-25 (#####) and uphold statutory responsibilities under the Children and Family Act (2014) and Care Act (2014).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead social care elements of the SEND strategy
  • Ensure statutory duties for children and young people with SEND are met
  • Represent Bromley Council at regional and national events
  • Provide expert professional advice on SEND reforms
  • Promote opportunities for co-production and effective partnerships
  • Offer training, advice, and guidance to staff and partner agencies
  • Use quality assurance frameworks to monitor service effectiveness
  • Identify areas for practice improvement and present solutions
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational, planning, and administrative skills
  • Collaborate with senior managers to drive organizational developments

What We're Looking For:

  • Passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children and young people with SEND
  • In-depth knowledge of social care legislation and SEND reforms
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Ability to build effective partnerships with stakeholders
  • Experience in using quality assurance frameworks
  • Excellent leadership and negotiation skills
  • Commitment to relationship-based practice

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration (SWE)
  • Significant experience in a senior social work role
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding frameworks, legislation, and best practices.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practices.
