We also have development teams in France, Poland, Germany and New Zealand and continue to investigate opportunities in other territories.Rapid growth of the company has resulted in us looking to expand our team.About the roleThe Design & Technical Coordinator/CAD Technician will be a key member of the team and will be responsible for devising early-stage concepts and layout designs of battery energy storage projects and managing key inputs into the design, in collaboration with the development team and in-house grid experts. Designs will be submitted as part of planning submissions and will be suitable for being delivered on the ground, working alongside the delivery team to refine them and get them construction ready. Various other important drawings such as lease plans, planning boundary drawings, single line diagrams, will also form part of the work.The role will also necessitate interaction with other areas of the business, especially during the construction phase where project managers and contractors may require support to vary designs and obtain separate permits for grid infrastructure, highways and drainage work.The position requires a motivated and enthusiastic individual who can manage competing priorities and communicate effectively in a fast-paced and high performing team environment. Being able to work proactively, use initiative and remain diligent and organised is an essential part of the job.The role would be of interest to those that want the challenge and responsibility of contributing towards the successes of a rapidly growing and ambitious company, with the support of an experienced professional team to develop existing skills and grow knowledge of renewables design and the grid network. The ideal candidate would also be able to work independently with external stakeholders such as suppliers to ensure best practice is used when preparing associated drawings.This position will suit someone with a design and/or construction background who is proficient in AutoCAD and is technically minded to analyse data and determine the most appropriate design for site conditions. Having knowledge of GIS and its practical application would also be advantageous, but not essential.Key ResponsibilitiesCommissioning technical work and surveys such as service searches, topographic surveys and ground penetration radar (GPR) to inform initial site design.Working with the development team to produce site constraint plans and battery energy storage project layouts using AutoCAD.Ensuring site hazards and health & safety considerations are logged and are factored into the design.Working with suppliers and external technical consultants such as civil engineers, drainage, noise and highway teams to design the most appropriate project layout for site conditions, considering industry best practices.Preparing planning drawing packs and site-specific legal plans.Producing pre-construction information packs for the delivery team and contractors, including utility-plans, to support tendering and the handover of projects from development to construction.Showing an interest in other technologies such as solar and wind and support design aspects where necessary.Drawing site elevations using topographical information and technology detail from our suppliers, and is ‘capable of’ or ‘willing’ to learn to design in 3D.Supporting other in-house design work as necessary and liaising with other Harmony Energy international design teams to share knowledge.Managing internal drawing filing systems and supporting the innovation of improvements.Education and ExperienceA working knowledge of AutoCAD is required, whilst it is desirable for the candidate to have previous experience in a design, development or construction role. Experience within the renewables industry is helpful but not essential. It is more important to demonstrate a high level of initiative and a technical mind to support decision making in site design and technical coordination.
