Our client is a leading trailer manufacturer based in Mid-Ulster. With a strong reputation for quality and innovation, they are at the forefront of their industry. As part of their growth strategy, they are seeking a talented Design Manager to join their team.
Your new role
As the Design Manager, you will play a crucial role in the production, quality, and management of drawings and specifications. Your responsibilities will include:
Collaboration with Senior Management.
As part of the senior management team, you’ll actively contribute to the development of relevant aspects of the business strategy and operations.
Design Department Oversight:
You’ll oversee the design department, managing a team of skilled design engineers. Your role involves ensuring effective operation and coordination within the department.
Drawing and Specification Preparation:
Prepare accurate drawings, specifications, and technical requirements for Customers, Sales, and Production. These documents should be fit for purpose and easily understood.
Certification and Costing:
Certify specifications received from the sales department and assist with product costing. Your attention to detail is crucial in maintaining quality standards. P roduct Modification and Efficiency:
Modify existing products to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Your expertise will contribute to continuous improvement.
Design Change Management : Manage design changes through the Design Change Request Process. This ensures seamless transitions and compliance with requirements.
Legal Compliance:
Ensure all legal requirements related to design and build functionality are met. Compliance is essential for safety and regulatory purposes.
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this role, you should hold an undergraduate degree (2:1 or above) in a relevant discipline or its equivalent. Additionally, having previous experience with the SolidWorks package, project management and/or team management experience, knowledge of relevant legislative requirements (including Type Approval), exceptional interpersonal skills, effective presentation abilities, and strong verbal and written communication skills are essential. Demonstrating effective organisational, planning, and time management skills will contribute to your success as our Design Manager.
