We are a leading player in the energy sector, partnering with Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), the Distribution Network Operator for central southern England. SSEN has recently signed agreements exceeding £1 billion with three contract partners to enhance capacity, connectivity, and resilience in the region's electricity network. These initiatives are crucial for realising SSEN's RIIO-ED2 commitments and advancing SSE Group's Net Zero Acceleration Programme Plus (NZAP+) targets. As we embark on this transformative journey, we are seeking a talented Design Manager to join our dynamic team.The Design Manager will play a pivotal role in overseeing the design aspects of significant network upgrades to electricity infrastructure. This role will be office based and the ideal candidate will have extensive design experience in transmission and distribution, coupled with expertise in civil design of substations.Key Responsibilities:Lead the design process for electricity infrastructure upgrades, ensuring alignment with project objectives and regulatory requirements.Collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including engineering teams, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to develop comprehensive design solutions.Manage and coordinate design activities, including feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed engineering, and design review processes.Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, resolving design-related challenges and ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.Oversee the preparation of design documentation, drawings, specifications, and other deliverables, adhering to quality, cost, and schedule requirements.Conduct regular design reviews and audits to identify potential risks, issues, and opportunities for optimisation.Interface with clients and regulatory authorities to address design queries, facilitate approvals, and ensure project compliance.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the design process.Mentor and develop junior design team members, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the organisation.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; advanced degree preferred.Strong background in civil design of substations, with a focus on electrical infrastructure.Proficiency in design software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP).Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards relevant to electricity infrastructure design.Willingness to travel occasionally to client sites and project locations, as required.We encourage those without management experience to enquire if interested.If you possess the requisite experience and expertise in transmission and distribution design, coupled with a passion for driving innovation and sustainability in the energy sector, we invite you to apply for a consultation with Georgia.Send me alerts about jobs like this.Please enter your email address to continue setting up an email alert for similar jobs to this one.
