The Design Manager role

We currently have an opportunity for a Design Manager for a main contractor overseeing projects in the midlands area. The Design Manager will coordinate the design and build process from pre-construction through to delivery.

Our client is looking for a Design Manager with experience of Design & Build contracts in the region. The company is one of the largest contractors in the region with an annual group turnover approaching £200 Million. The midlands region has been established for several years and enjoys an excellent reputation with both their clients and employees alike. The Design Manager opportunity is for their general contracting business who undertake a broad range of projects including commercial, education, industrial, local authority, healthcare and care home projects. Predominantly Design & Build, projects are typically valued at between £5 Million to £20 Million.

The Design Manager responsiblities

As Design Manager you will be responsible for coordinating the design process on projects typically valued from £5-20 Million. Reporting to the Regional Design Manager the role will be responsible for coordinating the design process including buildability and value engineering; working with clients, architects and consultants; attending and chairing design meetings with relevant stakeholders; coordinate, manage and disseminate all relevant drawings and paperwork; ensuring the design process is managed throughout and the building is successfully delivered in line with all specifications.

Requirements

Successful applicants will have a proven track record of undertaking the role of Design Manager for a main contractor who undertake projects of a similar size and nature. In addition successful applicants should hold an HNC or degree level qualification in a construction discipline.
