Job Description: As a Transportation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, management, and optimization of transportation systems, particularly focusing on highways and traffic flow within school and council areas. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, from conceptual design to project implementation and maintenance. This position requires a deep understanding of traffic management principles, highway design standards, and traffic flow systems, along with a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Highways Design: Develop innovative and efficient designs for highways, intersections, and road networks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Traffic Management: Design and implement effective traffic management strategies to improve safety, reduce congestion, and enhance traffic flow in school and council areas.
- Traffic Design: Utilize advanced software tools and simulation models to analyze traffic patterns, identify bottlenecks, and propose design solutions that optimize traffic movement.
- Traffic Flow Systems: Implement intelligent transportation systems (ITS) and traffic control devices to manage traffic flow effectively, including traffic signals, signage, and lane markings.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and government agencies to coordinate transportation projects, address community concerns, and ensure project success.
- Project Management: Lead transportation projects from initiation to completion, including feasibility studies, design development, construction oversight, and post-implementation evaluation.
- Technical Expertise: Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in transportation engineering, and apply this knowledge to improve project outcomes and exceed client expectations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed design drawings, technical reports, and project documentation, and effectively communicate project status, milestones, and deliverables to stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Strong proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, MicroStation) and traffic engineering software (e.g., VISSIM, SYNCHRO).
- Solid understanding of highway design standards (e.g., AASHTO, MUTCD) and traffic engineering principles.
- Proven experience in transportation project management, preferably in a consulting environment.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
