Design Co-Ordinator

A main contractor is seeking to bring in an experienced Design Coordinator due to recent growth in their project pipeline. This contractor is well positioned for growth in the coming years with a strong pipeline and solid relationships in London and right across the UK.

The ideal candidate will come from a main contracting or fit-out contractor background and have experience being number one design manager on numerous schemes. You will have a lot of autonomy in this role and be given the opportunity progress your career with the guidance senior management.

Design Coordinator Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in developing Design Delivery Schedule along with the client, Project Manager, Design team and consultants


• Control the design process, from cradle to grave


• Carry out design reviews


• Review subcontractor tender returns


• Regular meetings with the production team and ensuring all technical issues are addressed immediately


• Manage and coordinate external consultants


• Liaise with key personnel within the project team in preparation of project costing and design works


• Ensure consultants prepare the detailed design by Employers Requirement and Contractors Proposals


• Manage and review the design development process ensuring value engineering and buildability are considered


• Assist Project Manager in incorporating onto a tracking sheet all internal and external design and cost issues


• Manage the distribution and production of project workload within the project team and design consultant team

Design Coordinator Requires:

• 3+ years of design management experience working for a main contractor on residential developments


• Backgrounds can be from either an architectural, apprenticeship or engineering background


• Experience managing residential or commercial new build or fit-out projects is essential


• Detail driven and very organised
