Job Title: Deputy Manager

Salary: �30,000+ per annum

Hours: 40 hours per week (Rotating shifts: Opening Nursery: 7am-4pm, Closing Nursery: 9.30am-6.30pm)

Location: Office-based role with coverage required across all classrooms and kitchen when needed.

Start Date: Flexible

Benefits: Parking accommodation available. Nursery open all year round except for Bank Holidays and 2 weeks over Christmas.

Qualifications: Preferably hold a qualification higher than Level 3. Minimum 1 year of recent Deputy Manager experience in a day nursery required.

Responsible for: The Nursery Staff and Children

Purpose of the Job: The Deputy Manager supports the Nursery Manager and acts as their deputy when necessary to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality care and education for children aged between 3 months and five years. They are tasked with fulfilling legal requirements, supervising staff, implementing policies, liaising with professional bodies, promoting professional development, and serving as a positive role model.

Main Duties:

  1. Assist the Nursery Manager in ensuring smooth nursery operations.
  2. Take charge of opening and closing procedures.
  3. Continuously evaluate and suggest improvements for quality enhancement.
  4. Collaborate with the Manager and staff to implement policies and procedures effectively.
  5. Lead the planning and documentation of the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  6. Supervise curriculum planning and learning journeys across all rooms.
  7. Address children's needs and provide support for their achievements.
  8. Maintain close communication with parents and carers.
  9. Supervise staff daily across the five classrooms.
  10. Advise the Manager on any concerns regarding children, parents, staff, or health and safety.
  11. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  12. Attend training courses, meetings, and staff gatherings as required.
  13. Monitor stock levels and conduct kitchen inspections.
  14. Ensure proper usage of equipment and maintain nursery cleanliness.
  15. Undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the Manager.

The Deputy Manager plays a vital role in upholding nursery standards and ensuring the well-being and development of both staff and children. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential for this role.
