The Bowel Cancer Screening Programme at United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust is looking for a highly motivated and effective deputy lead SSP to support the Lead SSP in the nursing management of the existing service. The successful candidate will work alongside the led SSP and be responsible for the day to day leadership of the team of SSPs. Working within a busy office environment the deputy lead SSP will work with the Lead Specialist Screening Practitioner to ensure that the Lincolnshire Bowel Cancer Screening Programme meets national and local targets, provides safe and effective care to patients and has a robust and well maintained quality management system in place. To meet the demands of this nationally led service, the working hours may need to be flexible, hours and days will be discussed at interview.Main duties of the jobTo provide support to the Lead SSP, programme manager and screening centre director. To manage day to day workload of the SSPs and ensure safe and effective care for all screening patients. The post holder will work autonomously within a multi disciplinary team across the trust and with external stakeholders including NHSE, ICB and SQAS This post will include audit, training and service management and clinical duties which include discussing options with patients, making an assessment of fitness for colonoscopy, attending colonoscopy, managing the results handling process and referral to the multi-disciplinary team if appropriate.About usOur Trust is situated in the beautiful county of Lincolnshire and is one of the biggest acute hospital trusts in England, serving a population of more than 700,000 people. Previous experienceEssential
oAt least 3 years' experience as a Specialist Screening Practitioner

QualificationsEssential
oEducated to degree level qualification in a related clinical specialism, or evidence of study at degree level. oNMC registration oAchievement and completion of the Specialist BCS Practitioner Education module oRelevant specialist knowledge to post-graduate diploma level

oMasters in a clinical nursing specialism
