At Reach, not only will you feel better understood, you will also feel you understand other people better too.This is a fixed term contract maternity leave cover role, initially for 10 - 12 months starting at the end of May.This role is based in our London Hub, we are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.What will the role involve?You will lead on and oversee all content produced by the online newsdesk. You will support and manage a team of talented journalists, managing the planning and execution of the highest quality news content. You will find, break and source exclusives to stay ahead of our rivals. You will edit stories, reworking headlines when needed and sub copy to meet the Mirror brand’s high standards.You will support a team of freelancers and their budgets, identifying key contributors to build a strong team. You will assist the Head of News directly with ensuring all content output is of the highest quality and meets targets. This position will involve weekend and evening working on a rota basis, so a flexible approach is required.Who are we looking for?You are a highly accomplished Editor and NCTJ or equivalent qualified journalist with vast experience working at a national title. You have experience deputising and you are ready to step into a hands-on managerial role within a fast paced newsroom. You have a genuine passion for breaking exclusive news stories and know how to encourage your team to do the same.You understand the Mirror’s brand completely and know exactly what type of content drives engagement with its readers.
