We are looking for a dynamic and visionaryDeputy Director of Learning - Englishto join our team from September 2024. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of Learning to drive forward the English department, inspiring both students and staff to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future of English education at Leigh Academy Hugh Christie.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate with the Director of Learning to develop and implement a forward-thinking English curriculum that engages and challenges students.Lead and support a team of passionate English teachers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Utilise data analysis to monitor student progress and attainment within the English department, identifying areas for intervention and enhancement.Promote best practices in English teaching and learning, incorporating inquiry-based approaches and real-world applications.Champion the use of technology and digital resources to enhance the teaching and learning experience for both students and staff.Foster strong partnerships with parents, carers, and external stakeholders to support student achievement and well-being.Contribute to the wider strategic development of the academy, participating in cross-curricular initiatives and school improvement projects.Qualifications and Experience:A degree in English or relevant subject area.Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.Substantial experience teaching English at secondary level, with a proven track record of raising student achievement.A deep understanding of current trends and developments in English education, including curriculum design and assessment practices.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.A passion for English education and a commitment to fostering curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking skills in students.The basis of this role is full-time, permanent and offering a salary of MPS/UPS commensurate with experience.Interviews for this position will take place week commencing 13th May.
