The Deputy Director of Finance will provide strategic and inclusive leadership and direction to the Finance Department and will be accountable to the Chief Finance Officer for the overall day-to-day performance of the Finance Department.
As the Deputy Director of Finance, you will lead on the delivery of a high quality, effective, proactive and professional strategic and operational finance function, supporting the development of the capability and capacity within the department to meet the evolving needs of the organisation for financial services, information, support and guidance.Main duties of the jobThe role will:o Provide strategic and inclusive leadership/line management to the four areas within the finance department including direct line management of the heads of procurement, projects, planning and costing, financial control and business services.o Act as a role model for the DBTH Way and We Care Valueso Ensure a comprehensive and pro-active service is provided to the organisation across management accounts, income and contracting, costing, financial accounts, accounts payable, accounts receivable, capital, treasury management and charitable funds.o Provide specific senior input to highly complex issues requiring strategic financial advice.o Deputise for the Chief Finance Officer as appropriate, and represent the Trust, both internally and externally at senior level taking full accountability for any decisions taken on their behalfAbout usDBTH is one of Yorkshire's Leading acute trusts, serving a population of more than 440,000. Fully qualified chartered accountant (CIMA, CIPFA, ACCA, ICAEW) or equivalent experience Evidence of continued professional development post qualification Formal management training, as a minimum covering negotiation skills, presentation skills, change management and leadership
Desirable
Masters qualification in relevant discipline (MBA, Finance or leadership)
ExperienceEssential
Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in a senior leadership role within the Finance function Experience of working at a senior level in a large, complex, multi-professional organisation Detailed knowledge of the NHS Financial regime and the relevant standards and guidance (Financial Reporting Manual etc) Experience across a broad range of financial disciplines, including but not limited to: oFinancial Accounting oTreasury Management oCapital oCharitable Funds oManagement Accounts oCosting oIncome and Contracts Significant experience of managing teams of staff including both junior and very senior professional staff
Desirable
Experience working in an Acute hospital environment Experience managing change within large organisations Experience in commissioning and contracting Exposure to national level discussions on policy formulation or implementation - for example contribution to HFMA or FTN work
