Training & Qualification
Essential criteria
Master's Degree level qualification and/ or membership of a chartered profession in an appropriate technical discipline relating to construction, professional services or engineering
Plus equivalent level of in depth and specialist knowledge and significant industry/specialist experience at Director, Deputy Director or very senior manager level in estates management or construction related professional services.
The post holder will also have extensive demonstrable experience of working at a senior managerial level within a healthcare or related construction industry.
Membership of appropriate professional body
Highly specialist knowledge over more than one function/discipline in the remit of the role.
Evidence of Continuous Professional Development over several years.
IT skills in the use of MS Office software and MS Project.

Experience
Essential criteria
Significant proven and demonstrated Senior Level experience in Capital Development, construction or Estates management within the NHS or similar environment for a minimum of 10 years.
Experience of operational and technical interpretation, negotiation and service development across a range of capital and estates services.
Experience of developing estates strategies and service redesign within the NHS.
Specialist knowledge over more than one capital and Estates discipline, or function, together with associated healthcare services provision
Experience of monitoring highly complex contracts, projects and programmes
Experience of auditing and compiling corporate documentation and reports.
Experience in managing contentious situations and influencing diverse stakeholders, including clinical and non-clinical staff, to achieve consensus.
High-level budget setting, forecasting and financial acumen
Desirable criteria
Experience of senior management in a capital planning and construction role either within the NHS or a similar health environment
Communication & Relationship
Essential criteria
Demonstrable ability to articulate, influence and persuade others using highly complex and highly sensitive communication skills.
Experience of analysing and presenting highly complex and contentious data at executive level.
Presenting information in public forums in sometimes hostile and antagonistic environments covering highly political, sensitive and contentious information.
Experience of handling complex external relationships with commercial providers which will include challenging (where appropriate) areas which infringe upon potentially politically sensitive environment(s).
Experience of managing multiple concurrent projects and conflicting priorities to ensure deadlines are met.

Demonstrates a real commitment to working with, involving and consulting with patients and other key stakeholders in taking decisions

Essential criteria
Demonstrable experience and ability to take a high level strategic concept, develop a business case with full senior management buy in and presentation to Executive/Trust Board and other external stakeholders
The ability to think conceptually; recognising assumptions, interpreting and evaluating arguments and deducing inferences.
Able to think analytically; anticipating obstacles and thinking ahead; using analytical techniques to identify several solutions
Able to make quick assessments of and draw logical conclusions from situations

Planning & Organisation
Essential criteria
Able to formulate long term plans across multi- service and organizational boundaries for the development of service redesign and estate strategic models in a changing commissioning and provider environment.
Ability to develop Trust estate strategies and to assimilate these to radically redesign the estate model to support future NUH clinical delivery in a holistic approach.
Ability to develop long term estate strategies to provide a pipeline of projects for business case development and beyond.
Desirable criteria
Ability to interpret national, health, or broad organisational policies, and establish the way in which these will be implemented and interpreted

If you are aged 16 or 17 and applying for a role that is more than 20 hours a week, please be aware that you will be asked to commence an Apprenticeship within the Trust alongside your role, as long as there is a suitable apprenticeship standard available. This is in line with the current guidance in England that whilst young people under the age of 18 can leave school (on the last Friday in June) they must then do one of the following:
Stay in full-time education, for example at a college
Start an Apprenticeship
Spend 20 hours of more a week working or volunteering, while in part-time education or training

Salary: The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.

NUH will scan your ID and right to work documentation in to the Trust ID system at your face to face ID appointment. The system will run a check against the key security features within your documentation. The system will provide us with an outcome of your check which will be stored securely on your personal file along with all other pre-employment check documentation.
Consent:
Transfer of information: If I have previous NHS service - I consent to the transfer of my Electronic Staff Record (ESR) data between this and other NHS Trusts. I also consent to the Occupational Health Department confidentially accessing my occupational health records from my current or previous employer in order to check the status of my vaccinations, immunisations s and screening tests as relevant to the post. I understand this is an automated process and the information will only be used for these purposes prior to me taking up the position at NUH.
Disclosure and Barring Service: Your post maybe subject to a DBS check which incur a cost dependent on the level of check required (£42.90 for enhanced and £22.90 for standard). I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check if it is required (by deduction from first month's pay). Should I decide to withdraw from my job offer, I agree to reimburse Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust the cost of the DBS check undertaken by cheque or other agreed method.
